Position Summary: Certified and responsible for the inspection of canopy parts in one specific station, by utilizing, basic knowledge of company products, drawings, work instructions, procedures and quality system.
Inspector I works under the immediate supervision of Team Leader, Supervisor or Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Visually examines station appropriate material or product for defects.
Compares station appropriate product with production work order.
Verifies specified dimensions of station appropriate material.
Rejects defective parts and routes to Production Lead.
Working knowledge of engineering drawings, diagrams and Work Instructions.
Performs other inherent duties related, but not limited, to the above.
QA Inspection Certification Stations: Inspection Q Box The purpose of Q Box Inspection is to verify appropriate parts are contained within the kit, split the kit into sub-cell and cell components, and verify warning label, logos and other associated documentation correctness.
Logo/Artwork Inspection The purpose of Logo/Artwork Inspection is to verify that the specifications are met as per the drawings and work instructions for the logo and artwork.
Sub-Cell Inspection The purpose of Sub-Cell Inspection is to verify the appropriate line set, stabilizer, slider, bridle, tail pocket, link covers, flag bag, drogue and canopy bag have been prepped and manufactured to criteria and drawings for the associated job order.
Light Table Inspection The purpose of the Light Table Inspection is to verify that incoming fabric meet Performance Designs specifications.
Document, map and segregate non-conforming product from conforming material.
Assist in stockroom duties associated with labeling and storage of fabric.
Measure and prepare sales order fabrics.
Inspection A Station The purpose of the Inspection A Station is to inspect station appropriate fabric, tape type and location on parts, center cell preparation, tape shrinkage and tape stitch quality before any seam work is put in the article to be produced.
Arrange the parts for the next production operation.
Verify documentation and Berry Amendment lot information.
Inspection B Station The purpose of the Inspection B Station is to inspect the stitching in the main seamed sub-assembly, I-Beam Seam and Top Seam including PCA assembly.
To verify tapes, logos, fabric and documentation including Berry Amendment lot information.
Inspection C Station The purpose of the Inspection C Station is to inspect the loaded structure of the main bottom seam of the parachute before the tail seam is sewn or any bar tacks are placed.
To verify that the junction of the tapes will accommodate the proper placement of the bar tacks.
To inspect the stabilizers.
To verify tapes, fabric and documentation including Berry Amendment lot information.
Inspection D Station The purpose of the Inspection D Station is to inspect the tail seam, slider, stabilizers, all bar tacks, added components such as tail pockets, and rigging (including measurements).
Verify tape type and placement, fabric, and documentation including Berry Amendment lot information.
Final Inspection Station The purpose of the Final Airworthiness Inspection is to assure that the item being produced is free of defects.
The assembly is checked for construction, completeness, and function.
Once the parachute is deemed airworthy, it is packaged for shipping.
Raw Product Mechanical inspection The purpose of the Raw Product Inspection is to verify received or other identified products meet Performance Designs specifications using mechanical and measuring equipment.
Document and segregate non-conforming product from conforming material.
Assist in stockroom duties as required to maintain fabric inventory and other raw product inventory.
Calibration Technician The purpose of the Calibration Technician is to calibrate the tools and instruments used in quality control and production on a timely basis.
The calibration technician must complete and maintain all documentation associated with the calibration process.
Education and Experience Requirements High School diploma or GED Equivalent required.
Previous inspection experience preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Must be able to read, understand and follow written Standard Operating Procedure Specifications that are written in the English language.
Ability to write in the English language.
Ability to read and measure with a ruler and measuring tape Communicates thoughts in logical manner to peers and management.
Must pass the Performance Designs, Inc.
Light Industrial Test Must pass the Purdue Pegboard Dexterity Test Physical Requirements Finger, hand and arm dexterity crucial for manipulating canopy parts.
Visual acuity necessary for inspection of parts.
Ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
Must have legible handwriting to complete required documentation.
Must be able stand for extended periods of time.
