Job Description: POSITION OBJECTIVES The IT Network Administrator is responsible for all aspects of systems administration including networks, applications, databases, and telecommunications.
This includes implementation, configuration, coordination, control, maintenance, troubleshooting, security, usage monitoring and the development of specialized systems procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Performs basic systems security administration functions, including creating customer profiles and accounts, monitoring and managing system resources, including CPU usage, disk usage, and tape backup systems.
• Performs systems backups and recovery procedures.
• Writes or modifies basic scripts to resolve performance problems.
• Maintains system documentation and logs.
• Performs or assists in troubleshooting and diagnosing production problems.
• Maintain network security authentication including IP telephone security and application security.
• Administer secure links with public key encryption, anti-virus, user authentication.
• Provide monitoring and primary response and intervention for information technology related security incidents and violations.
• Keep current with new security and network monitoring technologies and applicable laws and regulations.
• Design, setup and install email, web and file servers in an enterprise environment.
• Responsible for maintaining City’s websites.
• Performs related work as required.
These additional duties may be representative of tasks typically performed by those in a lesser or more advanced job grade.
This position is part of the City’s Emergency Management Team and, as such, shall be expected to perform all duties that are assigned during an emergency management operation.
Education and Experience • Associate’s degree in Computer Networking or related field.
• Three (3) years’ experience working in a production networker/server environment; or • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations o Cisco CCNA Certification and/or Microsoft MCSA Server 2008/2012 Certification.
o Must have valid Florida Driver’s License Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Knowledge of Server hardware and operating systems and all aspects of local and wide area network infrastructure.
• Knowledge of advanced routing and switching protocols, vLANs, subnetting, and all other methods of LAN and WAN communication.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Hyper-V virtual environment infrastructure.
• Ability to read and interpret work related documents.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to follow and interpret instructions furnished in written and oral format.
• Skill in understanding and applying knowledge of server and network administration to an enterprise network.
• Skill in installing, configuring, managing, and troubleshooting infrastructure with limited support or supervision.
• Skilled decision making and thought processing in highly critical situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear.
• The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms.
• The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and stoop; kneel, crouch or crawl.
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus • Must be able to drive as needed.
WORK ENVIRONMENT • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to very cold temperatures and risk of electrical shock.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but is occasionally loud in the computer room.
Compensation Details: Normal working hours are Monday-Friday 8am-5pm $25.
60- $28.
