Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains and updates inmate files, including closing files of released inmates;
Verifies housing and prisoner type;
Attends and processes First Appearance;
Processes waivers of extraditions, holds, and immigration papers;
Processes and reviews court action forms and court orders relating to felonies, misdemeanors, dependency, child support, and juvenile cases;
Calculates sentences and credit for time served, including loss of gain time due to disciplinary issues;
Handles administrative and protective custody monthly reviews, evaluations, and monthly file audits;
Classifies and re-classifies inmates;
Works with booking officers and sworn staff regarding possible changes of pertinent information;
Processes transportation reimbursements;
Processes trustee approval in cooperation with the medical, sworn staff, and command staff;
Processes inmate requests;
Handles waivers of extradition, transportation and ICE;
Prepares statistic reports for Division Chief and Commander;
Communicates with various treatment programs regarding inmate bed space;
Prepares the annual Detention Facility Report;
Assists the public, answering inquires and routing complaints and citizens’ concerns to the proper authority;
Works in cooperation with Judges, Public Defenders, Defense Attorneys, Clerks of Courts and other agencies to effect the sharing of appropriate information;
Communicates with State Attorneys and Governor’s Office in reference to Governor’s warrants;
Prepares and organize Department of Correction Commitment Packets;
Coordinates and arranges housing for inmates in cases of emergencies, i.
e.
, courtesy holds, medical issues, natural disasters, etc.

Distributes information and communicate with probation and parole;
Represents the Division at meetings requested by Division Chief or Commander;
Assists and participates in staff/agency functions;
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Selection Criteria:
Graduation from High School or possession of a High School Equivalency Diploma recognized by the State of Florida AND EITHER:
Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with an Associate’s* OR two (2) years of on job experience in processing court documents and familiarization with arrest procedure and processing; AND
Must be a Notary Public or willing/able to take the exam within sixty (60) days of hire; AND
Must have completed a one (1) year probationary period; AND
Must possess and maintain a current/valid Florida Drivers’ License.
