Old Town Molitor 17
I bought this new and is 100 yr anniversary model.
I've had this in the water once and been used as display ever since.
This has been stored in a smoke/pet free home for the last ten years, before that it was on display in my office.
Yes, there is some dust from storage, never polished or used soap to clean.
Old Town’s trademark wood and canvas canoes have never gone out of production, although they are no longer built at Old Town Canoe.
With the closing of the factory at Old Town, Maine, the company contracted with Island Falls Canoe, owned by Jerry Stelmok of Atkinson, to build and maintain its wooden canoes.
Long decks, outside stems and oval cherry gunwales create a frame so strong that no thwarts are needed on the beautiful Molitor.
At 17’ long this hand-crafted canoe is one that you will want to hang up and display as art work.
Considered to be one of the original “courting” canoes, the Molitor captures the look and feel of what a canoe design used to be at the turn of the century.
Get it out on the water and you’ll find the hull design was ahead of its time.
Made with Western red cedar planking, Cherry gunwales and cane seats.
All wood, no canvas.
When I bought this, I was told that the gunwales were mahogany.
I have the original issue title from selling dealer, issued in my name, (first and only owner).
Please check internet for price of a new one (if you can find).
Last one I could find was $7995 + shipping
